Viral TikTok Egg Boil, kinda…
I am a hardcore hard boiled egg fan, so when I saw this viral egg boil floating around TikTok, I had to check it out. Honestly, my first reaction was…ew. But after tweaking it to fit my own taste (translation: making it way better), it turned out so good that it is officially on repeat.
My version is lighter, a little sweeter, and more like a cozy broth situation. Stack it on top of rice, dunk some garlic bread in it, or eat it with a crostini. Try it out and see what you think.
Quick Tips:
Start eggs in boiling water. It helps keep the shells from sticking when you peel them
Use ice water after boiling. That five minute chill makes peeling easier and keeps the yolks bright yellow
Use Mike’s Hot Honey if you have it — the sweet heat balances out the spices perfectly
No bay leaves? Not a big deal. They add depth, but this broth still slaps without them
Simmer, don’t boil the broth. You want the flavors to come together gently, not evaporate into the air
Serving ideas: Pour it over rice, sop it up with crusty bread, or eat it straight with a spoon like an overachiever

Ingredients
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil in a medium pot, carefully add eggs, and cook for 10 to 11 minutes. Transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water for 5 minutes to cool, then set aside.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, add minced garlic, and cook until butter is melted, about 1 minute.
- Stir in remaining ingredients (water, onion powder, paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, honey, parsley, and bay leaves). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until honey dissolves and broth is warmed through. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Peel eggs, place in a medium bowl, and pour broth over top. Discard bay leaves, or keep them in the bowl (I keep them in).
- Serve eggs as is, or over rice, with garlic bread, or a crostini. Sprinkle with extra red pepper flakes, parsley, or even a drizzle of honey if desired.
